Interview from City Arts Nashua

Damien Kane Rigden is a Nashua, NH based artist, author, and musician. His background is a mix of engineering, architecture, fine art classes, and apprenticeship. He is known for his eclectic collection of interests, working in many different media. His visual art is typically expressed through printmaking, pen illustration, or painting; though he does explore other visual media from time to time. He started writing lyrics in 2017 and in 2021 he started producing his own music. In 2019 he released his debut fiction story and has continued to write since then.
He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After WPI, he spent some time studying architecture at the BAC in Boston. He has taken classes at the Currier Museum and New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, NH. He also studied reduction woodcut printmaking for a year and a half at Piscataqua Fine Arts in Portsmouth, NH. In 2023 he went on a wild journey diving into his painting discipline, creating 76 paintings in 7 months, developing a style which has become an underlying element of his paintings.
In 2017 he began learning Python programming through online classes. He has since used this in a few creative projects from a clock which uses his own numbering system, to a couple of cryptography problems. This ultimately led to the development of the cipher for Bell's Codex and my magnum opus, a pair of books that is based on a large cryptography problem. You can check out his work on GitHub.
In 2019 Damien took his first foray into literature by writing a Sci-Fi thriller novelette based around global warming.
His pandemic project, from early 2020 to August 2021 was a pair of books. The first one, Bell's Codex is an action adventure novel about solving a book which has been encrypted in a secret code. The second one, my magnum opus, is the ACTUAL encrypted book from the story. The puzzle is real and you can solve it yourself.
In April of 2022 he released a suspense/thriller/horror novella entitled "All Manner of Beast & Man."
In January of 2025 He released a spicy novella called “The Only Option for Revenge.”
In 2021 he wrote, recorded and produced his first solo album after years of collaborative music projects. Interstitial explores themes of love, happiness, life and death among others.
In September of 2022 he released ”Up in Flames.” This album explored his ego and its intersection with the chaotic world at the time.
In 2023 he released a single about finding financial success through art called “Alchemize.”
In 2024 he released the single “Analog” about disconnecting from social media and the digital world.
In 2025 he released a protest album called RAW.
Damien lives in Nashua, NH with his wife, two boys, and their golden retriever. He is a senior specialist mechanical engineer and creates in his free time. He is working towards his B1 level in German and is currently also learning Spanish.
